ISSUE 11 - WHAT EMPLOYEE'S WANT...Are you kidding?

 

I recently received an interesting article, written by friend and colleague, Larry Klimek, President of JKL Associates in the Detroit area.  As usual, Larry is right on with his information and perspectives.  So, why should we care about employee retention in a time when there are plenty of people in the market...read on.


As Larry points out, the job market is a place of constant change.  It is critical to understand this fact and how it relates to effective recruitment and selection of Top Talent.

It is in your best interest to know what today's job seekers are looking for, who they are, and why they are looking for that next opportunity.  It's also important to know if job seekers are looking for a long term career or just another job experience.  Are they money motivated, or by the opportunity to have impact, or both?

In 2008, Target Training International conducted research on a private database of over 19,000 active job seekers to determine what they are looking for in their future employer and what the job search feels like in the current economy.  This is insightful information for both recruiting and retention.
